In a friendly meeting, Ashraf Elgamal, President of The Arab American Association, met with City of Phoenix's Mayor Phil Gordon, city staff, along with many leaders of the Arab community at the Mayor’s Office, in the heart of Phoenix Downtown.
The gathering topic was The Arab American Festival and its title as the largest Multicultural event in Arizona representing 22 countries. Mayor Phil Gordon has shown his full support to have the festival moved to The City of Phoenix in 2010 with suggested location of the Phoenix Downtown Cityscape Park or Steele Indian School Park. Mayor Gordon is strongly behind the Cityscape location idea, however they're still hashing out the details.
In the past 2 years the festival has been hosted by City of Glendale at Murphy Park & The Amphitheater in Glendale downtown. Last year the event gathered tens of thousand of people of all different cultures in Arizona with participation of more than 55 singers, musicians and dancers from all over the Arab world.
The Festival is Scheduled in 2010 to be October 23rd and 24th. for more information visit ArabAmericanFestival.Com |
